Victoria and I finally got out of the house today.  We hung out with Jus and Jen, eating Pho, watching Wonder Showzen, Legends of the Hidden Temple, and then finally after Jus left for work, Little Miss Sunshine, which upon second viewing, has earned a place as one of my favorite movies.  We topped it off with a few drinks before heading home.  Upon returning home, I had two packages waiting for me.  A "Sex Bob-Omb" shirt, and a Zissou bundle including a Team Zissou shirt, sticker, and Ned "Kinglsley Zissou" Plimpton Stop Light Beanie.  Couretesy of course the greatest fiancee a man could ask for.

I just woke up the most amazing dream.  I drempt that I had a conversation with Ozzy Osbourne.  Now I'm not a huge Ozzy fan, despite my adolecent admiration for him during my early to mid teens, but the dream was both random and realistic.  Ozzy tuned my guitar, and when I referenced "No More Ballads", he started telling me all these anecdotes about his recording experience, and told me how important it is to have a good producer to bring the best out of your albums.  The weirdest part was at one point in between our talking, his phone rang, and he pulled out this ridiculously small cell phone.  Unfolded, it was about the size of a Pink Pearl Eraser.  He said "Hello" a couple times and then hung up and continued right on with his Bark at the Moon story.  The best part was nearing the end where he told me that the most important thing was just to believe in myself, and that I should go out, and make the best album I can, and even if he hates it, the world will be better for it because I'll be making music I love.  Wise, weird omens from Ozzy.

Upon waking, I'm aware of how bizarre a dream it was; for one thing, why the hell would Ozzy tune my guitar when I'm not even sure he knows how to play.  But it seemed real at the time.  I'm going to go back to bed.  Maybe if I'm lucky, Ace Frehely and Alice Cooper have some wisdom to bestow.

Trip to Victoria, Canada

Lately I've been pretty reclusive, and I'm sorry for that.  I've just been getting my bearings straight, and figuring some stuff out.  Tonight is the first night in a long time that I actually feel pretty good.  I need to see all my friends soon.  And on one final note, as lame of a way as it is to announce this, I can't wait anymore...

Victoria and I are getting married.

We're planning it for some time in June, but we're being pretty flexible at this point.  I'll send a "Save the Date" to some of you when I know the fer sure date.

Today we are going to see Nash again.  I'm really nervous.  It's not like I'm wondering if he'll recognize me or anything, because I know that he won't, but I'm worried that I practically won't recognize him.  It's been less than a week since I last saw him, but I know he's changed.  It's really hard knowing that every time you look at someone, they're going to look different.  I guess I get a unique perspective on him that his parents are missing out on, but I'd gladly give it up to be able to stare at him while he sleeps.

Nash01

At 8:47 pm on Sunday, August 27th 2006, my first child was born.  His birth weight was 8 lbs. 9 oz. and he was 21 and 3/4 inches long.  Even though I'm the father, he's not my baby.  He was adopted by a wonderful couple, Joni and Jessamy, who are also the adoptive parents of my girlfriend's first son, David.  They named him Nash Ronaldo Laurence.  I miss him horribly.

Every so often I go through these periods where I feel redirected in my life.  Where I decide to make sweeping changes in my life.  I let myself feel changed for a few days, then burn out and go back to normal.  I feel that bug coming on again, but I'd really like it to be permanant this time. 

My comic has gone on standby while I get my bearings again.  But once I start up again, I really want it to be the final time.  I want to blaze through this book, and get my life on track.  I want to finish Middletown so I can start on the next project, and then the next.  I want to get to the point where I can have a child.  Self-reliant.  And cool like Kim Deal.

Here is a 5-page-preview of my first graphic novel, MIDDLETOWN.  It's one of those quirky comedy/romance things along the lines of the film, Rushmore and the novella, Shopgirl.  The story follows Felix Fawcett and Kim Kissable, in a bizarre adventure of dumpsters, superheroics, and the kind of relationships that are just too strange and awkward to fake.
